River Lilly Cruises hosted the Pelican Island Audubon Society excursion on a pontoon boat to visit an island rookery in the St. Lucie River. Deena Wade, holding the microphone, about center in image, guided the tour along with her husband, Dana Wade. |

With the boat anchored just a short distance from the island, the great variety of birds in the rookery with their young were easily viewed. It was a unique and special treat for all those who attended. At left, a young Wood Stork cozies up to its parent. |
