Jens Tripson, pictured with binoculars, led an early morning field trip under overcast skies to the West County Wastewater Facility in Indian River County on Saturday, October 15, 2005.
The artificial wetlands are accessed partly by an elevated boardwalk and by walking the dikes surrounding the impoundments.
At least three alligators were spotted swimming around the facility.
The group is pictured walking along atop one of the dikes. The four at front starting at left are Susan Boyd, Jens Tripson, Alice Rowe, and Peter Sutherland.
Several groups of Mottled Ducks were observed.
The calm water produces a mirror-like surface to reflect this Ibis' image.

The group strikes a typical pose at the sight of a bird.
