ORCA canoe trip - February 5, 2006

Under the guidance of Richard Baker and Alice Rowe, the monthly Audubon/Florida Medical Entomology Laboratory (FMEL) canoe excursion toured the Oslo Riverfront Conservation Area (ORCA) and the surrounding Indian River Lagoon on Sunday morning, February 5, 2006.

A pair of American Oystercatchers were spotted on an oyster shoal near a spoil island.
A Great Blue Heron was observed standing high in a pine tree amidst what might become its nest.
A flock of various types of Gulls flew by.
Many of the Gulls landed on an exposed oyster bed in the Lagoon.
A treat were the two Roseate Spoonbills who circled around the canoes several times.
The two Roseate Spoonbills fly off.
