How do we assess progress towards a sustainable community vision?
- We see three big and interrelated moving systems, three big criteria, which define the boundaries: our economy is just one part of a working society, and, in turn, society lives within the limits of the planet’s environment and its natural resources.
- We can use three major sets of criteria to look at the world, what is being termed the triple bottom line: Environmental, Social/Cultural and Economic
- We have and can develop specific indicators within each of these criteria to define our existing conditions and measure whether we are doing better or worse over time in attaining a sustainable quality of life.
